A less shit night...

...which is fairly positive given recent postings!

We had a good site meeting tonight at which we resolved the whole kitchen problem: We cancel the Wickes kitchen and Mr Builder orders our new one from Magnet. There was talk about a handling charge at one point, but I think this probably disappeared after we put a ceiling cost on the kitchen which he could easily do by buying the trade version. Still, it's done and by the end of the week we'll have a kitchen in place. We're going to try and pursuade Wickes that they may as well leave behind the appliances as compensation!

As you can see from the picture above, we've now got a nice new front wall. I like it. A lot. The dark blue capping stone nicely sets off the rope edging on the path, which is also progressing nicely. We had to have the line of the path set away from the wall as it isn't square! Still, this allows us to have some planting along the side of the path. Which I like. A lot.

The bathroom is sporting a toilet, bath (with taps) and a towel warmer. Actually, we wanted a stainless steel, curved one and got a white, straight one, but we're past caring really. And in the back garden is our new patio. Lovely. I like it. A lot.

We're both feeling a lot better having seen a bit more progress and got the kitchen situation resolved. A rough estimate shows we are still no more than a week behind, which means we'll be home at the start of October.
